To buy or not to buy?

...that is the question. :) There is so much stuff in the works right now, it isn't even funny. SuperBoy's Big Day is only 45 days away. 45 days! You'll wait longer for ordering furniture! The NY Jets and Syracuse Orange will still have hope for their upcoming seasons! Boston will still think they can catch the Yankees for the A.L. East... wait. That last one's just crazy talk.

Along with all of the baby stuff, I've been thinking about the vehicle situation. My friends and family all tell me that baby brings a whole new level of stuff that has to be taken everywhere. So what comes next? I can't stand driving a mini-van and I'm trying to convince SuperGirl that it's my car that needs to be traded in. It's a higher payment, gets worse gas mileage, and is worth a little bit more than hers. I also have 1/2 the commute she does, mitigating the cost of a more gas-intensive vehicle.

So what do we go with? Consumer Reports is confusing at best. They commend and bash every model. The auto web sites are all pimped by the automotive industry... chevy tahoe/ gmc yukon? toyota sequoia? nissan pathfinder?

The only thing I know for sure is we'll never get a Ford SUV...

Honestly, we haven't felt the need for more vehicle space yet. We're pretty minimalist with what we take tho - just the basics. We have Ken's infiniti and a mountaineer. We thought we'd need more car too but decided to wait and play it out. And you know what? We're fine and we have no car payment...I say wait. Superboy will let you know if he needs more space or not. :P

Ironically George (my '95 Explorer) has been great...thus far :) Keep in my parking. The bigger the car, the harder to manuever. I'd agree w/ Brie-look around just in case but wait and see if you need 'more car' or not. Looking forward to seeing ya'll-sadly Matt and I went to Babies-R-Us and I am the one who freaked out...he was fine :)

You weren't asking for advice but in my Jaime ways, I am giving it anyways!! :)

I would wait. You are right---there is so much going on for you guys right now that adding something else to the mix right now is not worth it. First of all, SuperBoy only needs a car seat, diaper bag, and stroller for the first year or so. Its not until you are driving the car pool around that you really need all the space.

Wait to figure out what works for you and SuperBoy. As for what car to trade in.......whoever does the most driving around with SuperBoy will need to bigger car (eventually).

Just my thoughts!

I thought the reason you traded in your SUV and got a "sports car" was b/c you did not want to drive big bulky thing, w/ gas prices going up like crazy – ($4 gallon by end of summer) you want to get a gas guzzler?

You said your "sports car" was practical for having a kid. Thought that is why you go the 4-door Mazda.

If Bill can have Gracie in the Mustang then you should be fine!!

Not like you are having triplets or anything ;)
